Pimple Treatment Ideas You Should Try

Pimples can be very annoying, if not downright debilitating. Thankfully enough, you don’t have to resort to popping those pimples every time you get one. Here are some pimple treatments you can use:

1) Antibiotic and Antibacterial creams – the most common antibacterial pimple cream you might see being marketed today is Benzoyl peroxide. This has been known to be quite effective in removing pimples quickly.

Benzoyl Peroxide first dissolves the layer covering and plugging up the pore, called keratin. This means the pimple can finally release the built-up infection that causes the characteristic bump. It also acts on the bacteria that form pimples, killing them and preventing more pimples from forming.

2) Hormonal treatments – there are certain contraceptives that work well in balancing out a woman’s hormones and preventing pimples. Pimples have actually been linked to hormonal imbalances, which explains why they are affected by stress and why they are mostly experienced by adolescents.

Another form of hormonal treatment comes in the form of a cortisone injection, which immediately causes the pimple to become less noticeable and eventually heal.

3) Phototheraphy –the use of light therapy to reduce pimples came when people observed that exposure to sunlight actually helped heal pimples. Unfortunately, sunlight also caused more pimples to pop out in its place.

However, light therapy today uses special lighting and lasers to help clear up your skin from pimples. What the light does is actually stimulate the bacteria to begin producing free radicals that ultimately kill them. This leads to the pimple being deflated and healed.

Laser, on the other hand, targets the sebaceous gland responsible for oil production as well as the follicle on which the pimple is formed. However, laser pimple treatment is still fairly new, so results may not be always guaranteed.

4) Heat –heating the pimple area has been shown to be quite effective in treating it. This is because heat pimple treatment opens up the pores and this causes the trapped oil and dirt to be excreted. Also, heat kills the bacteria in the pimples which caused them to form in the first place. This speeds up the healing and prevents any infections.
